Tax Partner Susan Laputz retires after 37 tax seasons at Windes. She joined the firm as a staff accountant in 1985 after earning her bachelor’s degree in accounting and finance from California State University, Long Beach, and obtaining her CPA license in 1984.
After earning her master’s degree in taxation from Golden Gate University, San Francisco, Susan quickly rose through the ranks at Windes and, in 2005, was promoted to partner.
Susan’s contributions to the firm have been invaluable. She co-managed the firm’s first employee incentive plan (for client referrals), was former assistant chair of the Windes Employee Retention Committee, co-founder of WE LEAD, the firm’s women’s initiative program, involved in senior-level roundtables, and participated in Tax department recruiting.
Susan also led the firm’s California Enterprise Zone credit incentive and served on the
California Enterprise Zone (CAEZ) State Board of Directors, where she spoke at several CAEZ annual conferences.
Susan’s community involvement includes serving as a member of the Long Beach Red Team, whose goal was to retain the McDonnell Douglas plant in the city, and a former board member and treasurer for Long Beach Strategic Marketing. Susan currently serves as a trustee of Long Beach Memorial Medical Center and treasurer of Long Beach Memorial Medical Center Foundation.
Susan plans to spend more time with Gerrit, her husband of 34 years, sons Trevor and Jeff, and daughter-in-law Brittany. Traveling, reading, savoring wine, and volunteering are also things Susan plans to do with all her free time!
Congratulations on your retirement, Susan!
