USA TODAY and Statista partnered to produce this inaugural ranking. The research and analysis process began last summer when Statista, an independent market research and statistics company, conducted extensive surveys of tax and accounting professionals and their clients. Tax professionals were asked which firms they would recommend if they had to refer a client to another company if they could not take on the work. Additionally, clients were asked which tax firms they would recommend based on their professional experience over the past three years. The survey results determined the top 100 recommended tax firms in the nation.
