Since spring 2025, the IRS has been expanding its Individual Online Accounts, making it easier for taxpayers to access important documents. This system consolidates various tax records in one place. Initially, the service included Form W-2, Wage and Tax Statement, and Form 1095-A, Health Insurance Marketplace Statement.
New Online Account Forms
The IRS has since added more information returns to the accounts. Currently, the Individual Online Account also provides access to the following forms for the tax year 2023 and beyond:- Form 1098, Mortgage Interest Statement
- Form 1098-T, Tuition Statement
- Form 1099-DIV, Dividends and Distributions
- Form 1099-INT, Interest Income
- Form 1099-G, Certain Government Payments
- Form 1099-K, Payment Card and Third-Party Network Transactions
- Form 1099-NEC, Nonemployee Compensation
- Form 1099-MISC, Miscellaneous
- Form 1099-R, Retirement/Pensions/Annuities, Etc.
- Form 1099-SA, Distributions from an HSA, Archer MSA, or Medicare Advantage MSA
- Form 5498, IRA Contribution Information
- Form 5498-SA, HSA, Archer MSA, or Medicare Advantage MSA Information
Additional Uses for Online Accounts
Beyond accessing information returns, taxpayers can use their Individual Online Accounts for other purposes, such as:- Viewing key details from their most recent tax return, including their AGI
- Requesting an IP PIN and viewing it throughout the year
- Checking the status of a refund
- Getting account transcripts
- Signing tax forms, like powers of attorney
- Viewing and editing language preferences
- Receiving and viewing over 200 IRS electronic notices
- Making, viewing, and canceling payments
- Setting up or changing payment plans
