Tim specializes in the tax issues facing entrepreneurial businesses. He works with clients on questions including the appropriate tax structure for a new business, facilitating growth of existing businesses by minimizing taxes on operations, and tax-efficient strategies to sell all, or part, of a company. Tim’s practice also includes tax planning and compliance for complex real estate and business ventures, especially those conducted through partnerships, LLCs, and S corporations.
An important part of Tim’s practice involves disputes with the IRS when the issues are complex and substantial potential tax liability is at stake. He is often called in to defend tax returns prepared by other accounting firms.
Tim’s career in public accounting began with the firm now known as KPMG where he worked in both the attest (audit) and tax practices. After a number of years heading a South Bay firm specializing in tax issues, the firm merged into Windes in 2005.
Tim serves clients in the real estate, manufacturing, international trade, and alternative energy sectors.
